Donostia / San Sebastián - 16 September 2026 - Cámara de Gipuzkoa has welcomed a visit from Mr Julio Herráiz España, Spain’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, as part of a day of meetings with various companies in the region.
Mr Julio Herráiz España has extensive international experience and has held several posts related to Asia. Since July 2025, he has been Spain’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea.
The meeting provided an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into developments and opportunities in the Korean market, as well as to explore potential avenues for collaboration and strengthen economic ties between Gipuzkoa and Korea.
South Korea is a particularly interesting market for Gipuzkoa because of the complementarity between the two economies. Its strong specialisation in industry, technology and innovation creates opportunities in areas such as automotive, energy, machine tools, advanced industry, biotechnology and semiconductors. In addition, its high level of technological development and integration into global value chains make the country an attractive market for both exports and the development of partnerships and new business collaboration opportunities.
The meeting brought together institutional and business representatives, including Unai Andueza, Deputy for Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, and Nagore Bonilla Gabarain, Managing Director of Basque Trade & Investment (BTI).
The visit forms part of Cámara de Gipuzkoa’s institutional activity. The organisation regularly welcomes international delegations and ambassadors to introduce Gipuzkoa companies to new markets and foster business opportunities and international cooperation.
