Legal framework

Corporation of Public Law with its own legal personality, and established in 1886, it is the successor of the San Sebastián Consulate. It is apolitical and works to promote economic development in Gipuzkoa, defending the general interests of Commerce, Industry, Services and Shipping.

It comprises all the companies and business men and women in the sectors of Gipuzkoa economic activity, represented through the Plenary assembly, which is the Corporation's maximum representative body. The 40 members that make up the Plenary assembly are freely and democratically elected every four years.

The Plenary assembly approves the budget, sets the Chamber's policy, and appoints the Executive Committee, which is made up of eight representatives, and the President. The Executive Committee is the Chamber's permanent management and administration body. The Presidency has been held by Mr Pedro Esnaola Latasa since March 2010.
